We Shed Our Tears – Magtymguly Pyragy

We Shed Our Tears
My fortune seems to be taking wing,
We prayed and shed our tears,
Praying for the fulfillment of our wishes, oh, Great Lord,
Unexpectedly the Kizilbash have betrayed us and left.
May people prosper and spread around all over the steppes of the land seen by Hydyr,
Let the foundation of our homeland get stronger and last forever,
May our wild and joyful youth come to their senses,
And all enjoy food cooked and served on one table.
Let the souls of dervishes join together in a prayer,
And the young gather for conversation and music,
May never-ending spring fall on to my people,
May winter last not more than ninety days as scheduled.
If only Turkmen become united and serve one common goal,
They could dry out the Red Sea, as well as the river Nile,
So let the tribes of Teke, Yomut, Goklen, Yazir, and Alili,
All five unite and serve one ruler as one nation.
Magtymguly, understands not to leave any Muslim
To the torture of the infidel while a soul is alive,
Give a blessing for the union of Yomut and Goklen,
And let Kemal Khan Afghani be our leader.
